International celebration to thank donors

ERIE, PA – Every two seconds someone in the U.S. needs blood. However, less than 10 percent of those who are eligible to give actually donate on an annual basis. To help bridge this gap, Nexcare Brand, in partnership with America’s Blood Centers, is proud to announce the fifth annual Nexcare give program. A national effort to raise awareness about the need for blood donation and inspire action, the Nexcare give program shines a light on World Blood Donor Day to thank those who give and encourage others to get involved.

Friday is World Blood Donor Day; over 100,000 people worldwide will give blood Friday to celebrate the miracle of blood donation. Nexcare is supplying all blood banks nationwide with special ‘Give’ bandages for the occasion. This year’s bandages feature terrific seasonal designs to remind us that blood is needed year round.

“We always talk about giving local,” said Dan Desrochers, Director of Marketing at the Community Blood Bank. “But it’s good to see the entire global effort to save lives.”

All donors this month are entered to win one of five $500 Home Depot gift cards.

The Community Blood Bank is open from 8a.m. 6p.m. Monday through Friday and Saturday 9a.m.—12:30 p.m.  Photo ID required but no appointment is ever needed.

The Community Blood Bank is licensed by the FDA and holds permits from the New York Department of Health and the Pennsylvania Department of Health and has been saving lives since 1966. It is accredited by the AABB and CLIA and is a member of America’s Blood Centers.
